Intent
Storm’s dominance of the high performance market is a true testimony to quality of the Premier product line, the flagship of our company.
With the intent of complementing the wildly - aggressive original Invasion with its solid R3X coverstock, the next family member must provide a cleaner glide through the heads & provide less oil traction than the debut.
Focusing on ball motion through the heads, the front part of the lane, we know that we are looking at coverstock composition & surface preparation. We also need to consider core shape as it is important when looking at the transition points & shape of the hook zone.
So, to ensure that we can provide a ball motion similar in shape reaction to the original Invasion, the goal is to provide a complementary shell to the asymmetrical Origin core & create a new tool to help you be your best.
Design
The new Total Invasion, which features the same multi-density weight block/core system as the original Invasion, has an extremely low spin time & high mass bias differential. Combined with the low RG (radius of gyration), the Origin core is sure to rev up HARD in the midlane & transition LIGHTNING FAST at the end of the oil pattern. These terms are all critical to understanding ball motion & understanding how they all inter-relate is what keeps Storm on top of the industry.
Looking at the original cover of the Invasion, R3X solid reactive was designed to create the highest surface roughness - Ra in the industry. With taller peaks & lower valleys invisible to the human eye, R3X creates higher oil friction by design.
As the new Total Invasion is intended to provide a smoother glide through the heads, we chose a smoother R3S material to achieve our goal. Varying surface roughness numbers are the result of the different chemistry of the coverstocks, & we are always looking at the proper balance of core & cover.
The 1500-grit polished finish is the cherry on top. Remember that you can always fine tune your reaction with Storm’s complete line of surface adjustment pads & polishes. Lastly, be sure to maintain your surfaces for a longer life with reliable performance.
R3S Pearl Coverstock
R3S is the third generation of Storm’s flagship coverstock: Reactor cover material. This shell has a measurable porosity that is higher than its predecessor. This increased porosity reads the lane slightly sooner than Reactor or R2S and smooths out the overall reaction. Blending out lane transition is one of R3S’s best features.
